My prophetic personality test predicted that my career path would somehow deal with people – either as a teacher or in the communications field. After more than a decade in public relations, I’m sure I chose the right path! I discovered PR while attending the University of Texas at Austin, and graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism degree with a concentration in PR in December of 1997. Hook ‘em! Since then, I’ve had the chance to work for big agencies and small boutique firms, and have created my share of in-house brand marketing departments. In the spring of 2008, I struck out on my own to establish Gold Standard PR.
During my journey from Texas to Washington, DC, to NYC and back again, I have lent my voice and skills to campaigns for a range of clients including the United States Treasury Department, Xerox, Unilever, Savin/Gestetner (divisions of Ricoh US), Chiquita International, and Goody’s retail stores, among many others including the Loudoun Medical Group and a growing group of restaurants and retail outlets in Northern VA called The Neighborhood Restaurant Group (Evening Star Café, Vermilion, Tallula, Rustico, Planet Wine gourmet shops, Buzz bakery, and Star Catering). Most recently, I was the PR Counselor at White+Partners in Herndon, VA, where I led the MaggieMoo’s & Marble Slab ice cream accounts and was an integral part of the new business team.
I am an active member of the DC Texas Exes and Public Relations Society of America. When the workday is over, you can usually find me enjoying time with friends and family, working out at the gym, enjoying a glass of wine, cooking, or attempting to find a sport that I’m good at playing!
